A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, idea, or feeling.
Examples: Rahul, Delhi, book, honesty, happiness, water.

🔶 Types of Nouns (With Definitions & Examples)

1. Proper Noun

Names specific persons, places, institutions, days, months, books.

Proper nouns always begin with a capital letter.


2. Common Noun

General names of people, places or things.

3. Collective Noun

Exam Trick:

Collective noun takes singular verb when group acts as one:

4. Abstract Noun

Names ideas, qualities, emotions.

Formed from

5. Material Noun

Names substances used to make things.

6. Countable Noun
