Types of Pronouns (For CUET, CLAT & IPMAT)

1. Personal Pronouns

Used for people and things.
Examples: I, we, you, he, she, it, they.

  • “I” is used as subject; “me” as object.

Point to specific things.
this, that, these, those

Show ownership.

Note: “my / your / his” are adjectives, not pronouns.


5. Relative Pronouns

Connect a clause to a noun.

Used in questions.

7. Indefinite Pronouns

Do not refer to a specific person or thing.

8. Reciprocal Pronouns

Used for mutual action.

9. Distributive Pronouns

Refer to one person at a time.

Rule 1: Each, Either, Neither → Singular Verb

Rule 2: Myself/Himself cannot replace subject pronoun

Rule 3: Use WHO for people and WHICH for things

Rule 4: Between → use objective pronouns (me, him, her)
